"LBSP," (aka The Blister)
"Roberts" Type, Water Tube Marine Boiler

This boiler, built by Don Metzger of South Stage Iron Works, is currently on loan from the distinguished Vennerbeck Collection. For KSW, its principle purpose is as an educational and training boiler. Every change you make has a comparatively quick reaction, unlike firing Hortense, which can take hours. For instance, more draft for the fire and you almost immediately see the pressure go up; blow the whistle and watch the pressure drop almost immediately. Its smaller scale is what makes it such a great learning tool. It is a water tube boiler that contains only 5 gallons or so of water (very similar to a steam cleaner boiler). We can use this unit to run one or two smaller engines, and it would be ideal for the artist that would like to do something on a smaller or more economical scale.
